Snowdon, in the Snowdonia National Park, is the highest peak in England and Wales at 1,085m. Snowdonia was Wales' first National Park and contains some of the most outstanding scenery in Britain. Nearly half a million people walk, climb or take the train to the summit each year, but bear in mind that each year there are also a handful of deaths - this is one place not to be complacent. There are six common walking/climbing routes to the summit, with one of the most demanding being the Snowdon Horseshoe. This route takes in Crib Goch, one of the finest ridge walks in the UK.
