In the summer of 2005 we visited Carvoeiro, a town on the southern coast of the Algarve in Portugal. A friend let us stay at his villa which was a great base from which to explore the local region including Sagres in the south western tip. At the top of the only real mountains in the Algarve is a small but picturesque town called Monchique.
