After many years of deliberately 'not doing beach holidays' we decided it was time for a rest. We also figured that if it was worth doing it was worth doing well so we went all out luxury! The Maldives are about 430miles south-west from Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean. As the smallest country in Asia and the lowest in the world (it averages just under 5ft above sea level) the Maldives has become the focus of global warming due to its possible inundation by the rising sea levels.
