Shanghai is the largest city in the world (by population, a staggering 23 million) so we were never going to do it justice in a few days. We took a day trip to Xitang in the Zhejiang Province in Eastern China. The town of Xitang, 110km from Shanghai, is built on a plain crossed by nine rivers which divide Xitang into eight districts. It is also famous for its 104 bridges, all dating from the Ming and Qing dynasty, its alleys and its covered passages. More recently it featured in Mission Impossible 3.
