One of my first trips to China for Wogen in 2004, taking in the sights of Hunan where the world's largest Antimony mine is located. A lot of the province felt run down and I am always astounded by rubbish strewn roads and fields or decrepit buildings but there was a feeling of change. The new highways were filled with trucks moving food (sorry little piggys), brand new farming equipment and new vehicles - at times it felt like an army on the move with so much more of the highway traffic focussed on moving equipment and food than private vehicles.
I also got my first taste of the Hong Kong Rugby 7s - what a brillint event! Wogen has a box virtually pitch side with permanent waiter service on beer, pimms and bloody mary's which all aided the singing, the betting and the general merriment. Top, top weekend!
Beijing was a fleeting visit but I found an hour in early morning to visit Tiananmen Square - a vast urban space.
