I have made multiple visit to Ukraine for work and find it a fascinating place. I tend to be in the Donetsk region in the south east which I liken to the Wild West. It is a mixture of industrial towns, sweeping fields and small villages. The black earth of the region is notorious for helping things grow and this area was once called the bread basket of the USSR. It is most noticeable in the villages where fruit trees abound, laden with fruit and old, wizened ladies with scarves around their hair sell freshly picked fruit at the road sides. The best cherries I have ever eaten!
