The Whitsunday Coast and Islands are a very special part of Australia. Centrally located on the Queensland Coast 150km north of Mackay and 300km south of Townsville yet right in the heart of the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef. The Whitsundays consists of over 74 tropical islands, many of which are National Parks. Hill Inlet, one of the most photographed bays in the world, is at Whitsunday Island between Tongue Bay and Whitehaven Beach. It's an amazing and really beautiful place - you will get the best view either by taking a plane/helicopter ride or the short (about 10 minutes) hike up the hill at Tongue Bay. Being a National Park you are very restricted in where you can go as they want to preserve the area for future generations. See www.tourismwhitsundays.com.au for some great photos and more information.
